Being cold could be the solution to so many health issues.

I'm a big tried and tested fan of breathwork and cold water therapy, it's literally been life changing for me. I started sea dipping/swimming March 2020 and my first breathwork experience/transformation was in 2019. I knew very little about both of these before immersing myself but as is often the way with me, I just get a feeling that something is going to be great and truly beneficial so I throw myself right in!

I've written at length about both of these experiences on my website if you'd like to read more but for now I wanted to give a mention to my cold water showers and recently listening to the wonderful Wim Hof on the Diary of a CEO podcast.

I don't know why exactly but I just didn't feel like keeping up my sea dips as we headed into the winter of 23/24, I couldn't bear the thought of being cold. the sewerage dumps of late didn't help either, in fact the last time I did swim which I think was end of 2023 I had sore ears for a few days after (nothing some tea tree oil couldn't fix).

I came upon these posts from Wim and as I often do, when I come across something that gets my attention I end up seeking out more, this all made me realise I was missing out on the benefits of cold water exposure so I started ending my shower with a 1 to 2 minute blast of cold water and just as Wim promised it did get easier but was still as effective. I'm back in the sea now since March and I can feel all the benefits come flooding back from the shower and sea, instant mood boost and gratitude, overall improved energy and just that knowing what I'm doing is having so many benefits...

I've recently listened to Wim Hof - They're Lying About Disease & Inflammation on the podcast The Diary of a Ceo with Steven Bartlet, there's a wonderful guided breathing from Wim, it's incredible just following it once I could comfortably hold my breath for the longest I've ever managed.

Back to the cold, as Wim points out we have become too comfortable, always warm, always fed, quick fixes for illness and it goes on.. instead what he has proven from numerous studies is that putting our body into an uncomfortable/stressed state can trigger all kinds or incredible responses from the body leading to healing, trauma release, feeling calm, happier the list again goes on and on...

It fills me with hope and joy to yet again be reminded that nature really did get it right, we were built to heal ourselves, everything we need is within us or around us in nature if we're prepared to make time and effort and probably be a bit uncomfortable for a little while amazing things can happen.
